Description
The goal of this work package is to create a manual with guidelines for different approaches and positive
examples for the work with children and adolescents affected by parental alcohol problems. As the work
package starts with the collection of European “good practice” examples, the first task is intended to help define and agree on the necessary criteria for identifying and describing a good practice. Based on
DAPHNE-project CHALVI (coordinated by ACF, Finland), a good practice can be defined as “a working
practice, which is based on the best possible knowledge and which has been identified at workplace as
good, functioning and beneficial to the client”. Examples for such practices are e.g. guidelines, case studies, material/products or any other type of activity or product that has been successfully used for helping a child, either as a routine work of an organisation or a result of the project. After the relevant criteria have been determined, all project partners participating in this work package will collect good practice examples and provide the work package leader with these examples. As the manual should contain “best” practice examples, a strong preference should be given to examples that have been evaluated empirically.
After all examples have been gathered, they will be analysed with regard to strengths and weaknesses.
Selected examples will then be harmonised according to common structures and rules and, finally, compiled in a manual. The manual will serve as a tool for professionals to improve the practical work with the target group.
