Work package 4: Networking & Capacity Building

Description

ChAPAPs is a project within the ENCARE network. As the power of ENCARE ultimately rests on its
capability to create and maintain the structure of the network, ChAPAPs partners should develop and
strengthen national networks right from the beginning of the project. These national networks consist of
generalist and specialist professionals within member countries. These national, multidisciplinary networks serve multiple purposes in this project: They are a source of professional knowledge on good practice and they function as information channels to the project's target audiences. They can also provide useful grass root level information on changing trends, new practices etc.

One basic idea behind the ENCARE network is that partners from countries with less in the area of “children affected by parental alcohol problems” can and should benefit from existing knowledge and expertise in other partner countries. To this purpose, special training units for national professionals are to be offered in three countries: Estonia, Lithuania and Poland. These three-day long training units will be conducted by the work package leader and by SKM by way of interactive seminars. Project partners and other professionals working with the target group from member countries are invited to take part. The aim of the training sessions is to provide participants with new information on the situation of affected children and with effective methods for the practical work with affected children. In addition, training participants will be provided with 12 the capacity building toolkit, a manual containing good practice examples from different European institutions, models of data collection, successful prevention and intervention activities and recommendations for new policy guidelines.
